10 Things to Know About CAT 2018 Registration

IIM Calcutta has started the CAT 2018 Registration from August 08, 2018. The Application Form is available at iimcat.ac.in. Candidates will have 43 days to complete the CAT 2018 Application Form. First of all, candidates have to register to get the login id and password. Using the CAT 2018 Login Credentials, you can access the 05 page CAT 2018 Form. In the form, you have to correctly enter the personal, academic, contact, work experience, programme and exam center preference. Moreover, candidates are advised to fill the form carefully as editing for most of the details are not allowed after paying the registration fee. Though the two-three days window will open where you can edit some information in the CAT 2018 Application Form. There you can make changes only in the academic details, center preferences etc.

CAT 2018 Registration – 10 Key Things That You Should Know!

Since CAT is the important exam for management admission next year. Thus, it is necessary that you fill the form without any mistakes. As any discrepancy found later may lead to the rejection of candidature of the aspirant.

#1. Form in Multiple Session

Many times, it can happen that candidates in the rush enter the wrong details in the form. So, to avoid that you can fill the form calmly after rechecking it twice. You can fill the CAT 2018 form in multiple sessions and save the details to continue it later. The Form is divided into five parts so, you can fill them one by one carefully.

#2. No First Come First Serve Basis

In many exams, there is first come first serve policy. Which means candidates registering first will get the preferred slots. Thus, they try to fill the form as early as possible. But in CAT there is no such kind of policy. So, take your time and fill the form before the last date of registration. As the allocation of centers for CAT 2018 will take place only after all the registrations are received.

#3. Don’t Miss the Deadline

You are allowed to fill the form in multiple sessions. The one thing you should keep in mind is the last date of registration. So, ensure that you complete the form and submit it before the last date of registration. The CAT 2018 Registration Last date is September 19, 2018. Mark the date and fill the form in time.

#4. Keep All the Documents Ready

In the form, you have to fill in the various details. Most important is that you enter them correctly. So, if you have all the documents handy, you will able to fill form fast and do not have hurry here and there. The important documents that you must keep with you are Mark sheets of 10th /12th/ Degree/Diploma, Work Experience Certificates (if any), Category Certificate, Scanned Photograph and Signature, Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking details.

#5. Mistake While Calculating Percentage

While filling the academic details you must enter the overall percentage of all the subjects that have been present in the mark sheet. Whether it is the additional subject or not you must include in the final percentage.

#6. Know the Programme Selection Details

In the fourth step of form, you have to select the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and the programme offered by them. Candidates are advised to fill the form according to their eligibility only.

Here are the courses offered by IIMs.

  • PGP – Post Graduate Program in which work experience is not required.
  • EPGP – Executive Post Graduate Programme is a 1-year programme for working professionals.
  • PGPEM, PGPPM – Weekend programmes for working professionals.
  • PGPWE – Post Graduate Program for Working Executive
  • PGDM – Post Graduate Diploma in Management in which work experience is not necessary.
  • EPGPX – One Year Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives
  • PGPEX – Post Graduate Programme for working professionals
  • FPM – Fellowship Programme in Management

#7. Importance of Login Credentials

After successfully registering for CAT 2018, you must keep the CAT Login id and password safe for the future. You will need it to access the application form, admit card, result etc. In case you want to change the password you can also do that anytime. Just keep the CAT Registration Number safe to use it for any purpose later.

#8. Hike in Application Fee

As expected, there has been a hike in the CAT registration fee this year. The fee has been raised by some amount from last year for both reserved and unreserved category students. The CAT 2018 Registration Fee is Rs. 950/- for SC/ST/PWD Category Candidates and Rs 1900/- for other candidates.

#9.  Upload Photograph & Signature in Specified Format

Candidates are required to upload the photograph and signature in the specified format. An incorrect format may lead to the cancellation of form later. Thus, scan and upload the images in the format specified below.

# 10. Application Form Correction

After the submission of the form, candidates may get 2-3 days window to edit the application. Though candidates will only able to change a few details only. You shall able to change exam city preference, academic details, exam preference etc. Moreover, you will not able to change information like date of birth, candidates name, phone number etc.
