CMAT 2018 Merit List states the All India Rank secured by the candidates. AICTE releases national and state merit list separately, on the official website aicte-cmat.in. In both the lists, the score and percentile secured by the candidates in QTDI, LR, LC, GA, and overall is mentioned. The merit list of CMAT 2018 has been released on February 17, 2018. CMAT 2018 Merit List

Every year about 60000 candidates appear for the exam. Usually, the top 10 candidates are those who manage to secure between 315 to 250 marks. To know the schedule of CMAT 2018 merit list, check the table below:

How to Download CMAT 2018 Merit List?

Merit list released by AICTE is going to contain of all the applicants who have taken the test. Below we have mentioned the step by step procedure to download the merit list:

1st Step: Click on the link provided on this page (link will be provided once officially made available). You will be redirected to the official page where 3 links under the heading ‘CMAT Jan 2018’ will be visible.

2nd Step: Click on the first link ‘All India Merit List’ to open it. A PDF file will open up with some important instructions and thereafter, containing the details of all the candidates who appeared for the exam.

3rd Step: Now download and search your roll number and name in it. You will come to know your overall rank in India.

AICTE is also going to release second merit list which will be a ‘State Merit List’.

1st Step: To access it, you have to click on the second link below the heading ‘CMAT Jan 2018’.

2nd Step: A new PDF file will open up displaying the name of applicants and the marks and percentile scored by them in the examination.

3rd Step: Click on download and search for your roll number and name in it to know the rank in your state.

How is Rank Determined in CMAT 2018 Merit List?

To determine the rank of an applicant the total score is considered. However, if there is a tie between two or more candidates, the procedure mentioned below is followed to resolve it and determine the rank in CMAT 2018 merit list:

  1. To resolve the tie first of all marks obtained by the applicant in each section is considered, giving preference as stated here:
  • Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Language Comprehension
  • General Awareness
  1. If the marks obtained in all the sections are same, similar rank is awarded to the applicants. However, the name will be displayed in the merit list in alphabetical order.

Calculation of Score for CMAT 2018 Merit List:

The merit list is prepared on the basis of marks scored by the candidate in the examination. To calculate the score obtained by the applicant in the paper, below mentioned method is followed:

  • For every right answer marked by you, 4 marks are awarded.
  • On the other hand, if you have marked wrong response to any of the question, deduction of 1 mark is done from the total score.
  • Zero marks are given if no answer is marked.

Thus, to calculate the total score obtained by the candidate in each section, the formula is:

Total marks in each section = (No. of correct questions x 4) – (No. of wrong answers x 1)

To calculate the overall score, marks obtained in each section is calculated and added.

How is CMAT 2018 Percentile Calculated?

Percentile shows the comparison in the score of a particular applicant and the rest of the participating candidates. It tells how many people are behind you including yourself. The percentile shown in CMAT 2018 merit list is calculated using the formula:

Percentile (P) = [ (N- Rank of the candidate)/ N] x 100

Here, P is the percentile and N is the total number of candidates who have appeared in the examination.

After the Release of CMAT 2018 Merit List (Counselling)

On declaration of merit list, every participating institutes release the minimum cut off required to apply and get admission in the college. On the basis of percentile and the rank obtained, you will receive the calls from various colleges for GD and PI round. In case, you don’t receive a call, search for the colleges that accept the score obtained by you and apply in it. Go for GD and PI with confidence and we are sure you will perform well and get admission in the college of your choice.

After the declaration of result and release of merit list, candidates can also approach the institutions directly and apply for the admissions. However, the final decision to admit an applicant solely lies on the authorities of a particular college. Institute. CMAT will have no role in the admission process.

CMAT Merit List 2018 Important Points

All India Council for Technical Education announces the All India Merit list based on the scores obtained by the candidates in computer based Common Management Admission Test CMAT 2018 conducted online exam on 20th Jan 2018.

A national merit ranking has been arrived based on the Total Score. In case scores are same for more than one candidate, the ranking has been done on sectional score considered in the order of:

  • Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Language Comprehension
  • General Awarenession.

In case more than one candidate secures same ranking as per the above criteria, the same Rank will be assigned to all of them but will be displayed by sorting their names alphabetically. The Rank of the subsequent candidate will then be extended by the number of additional students having the same Rank. For example if three students are at 25th Rank then subsequent student will be ranked as 28th.

Percentile has been calculated using the formula:

Percentile P = ( (N- Rank of the candidate)/ N) x 100

(Where P is percentile and N is total number of candidates appeared for exam)

The Scores obtained have been calculated by assigning:

  • +4 marks for the correct answer
  • -1 mark for incorrect answer
  • 0 mark for no answer

The merit list indicates Roll number, Rank and the Score of all the candidates. CMAT-2018 score is valid for the admissions of academic year 2018-19.

The candidates would be able to download the electronically generated score card with complete details using their login details from http://www.aicte-cmat.in from 17th Feb2018. Separate Score Cards will not be sent by email or by post to the candidates.

Admission authorities and institutions, however, will be free to take their own decision at the time of admission as to what weightage they wish to give to a particular section.

Instances of incorrect information provided by the candidates, if detected at any stage, would make the candidate liable for disqualification

Any dispute concerning CMAT 2018 would be subject to Jurisdiction of the competent courts within the territorial jurisdiction of New Delhi only.
