Snap Preparation In One Month

Before we dig into the preparation, it is very important to know beforehand all the important information such as the paper pattern and syllabus. Only after we know this, we can make our own strategy to prepare for the exam. So here are the exam pattern and the marking scheme of the SNAP 2018:

Key Points of SNAP test

  • The test will be conducted in online mode.
  • Students will be given two hours to complete the test.
  • There will be objective questions as well as Special questions in each section of the test.
  • For every wrong answer, 25% of the marks will be deducted

What are Special Questions?

From this year, there will be a change in the paper structure of the SNAP exam. Until last year, only objective type questions were asked in the exam. But from this year onwards, there will be 5 new type of questions in each section. These are called Special questions. In the special questions, instead of choosing an answer out of four sections, you will have to enter the answer in the blank space provided. If the question is “What is the capital of Japan?”. The student has to type the answer as TOKYO using a virtual keyboard.

Symbiosis has not set any syllabus for the SNAP test. But there are some topics are very important and asked every year. Followings are the important topics to prepare section-wise.

General English

For the section, you must have a strong command over your grammar and vocabulary to nail this section.

Section-Wise Preparation for SNAP

Quantitative Data

This is the hardest section of the paper. The questions that are based on data interpretation are quite easier as compared CAT or XAT. For this section, you must practice as many mock tests as you can. Practice questions of all the important topics. Solve 100 questions each day to prepare for this section.

General English

There is more focus on the verbal section than the comprehension section. There will be two passages in the paper. For vocabulary, you must read regularly. You can read newspapers or magazines daily. Through this, you will be able to learn new words and figures of speech.

Analytical and Logical Reasoning

The major topics in this section are critical reasoning, series, deductive logic, analogies, blood relations. To ace this section, the students must practice as many mock test papers as they can. In this section, the students must obtain 20+ marks.

General Awareness

The best way to prepare for this section is to read a newspaper and watch the news to be updated with the events that are going on in the world. Make notes of the events and follow them. The major events can be an election, release of a film, foreign relations etc.

Preparation Tips

Preparing for SNAP is easier than the other entrance exams such as XAT and CAT. Here are some helpful tips for you that will help you prepare for SNAP.

  • Make notes – When you need the newspaper, you must make notes so that you remember all the facts and details about that particular event. Mugging up will not help. So it better to make notes and review them every day.
  • Previous Years Question Paper – Solve one or two previous years question paper daily for practice and time management. This will also make you familiar with the type of questions that will be asked in the exam.
