The stages in IIM Ahmedabad 2019 Selection process are as follows.

#1. Preliminary Screening

Candidates getting positive scores in CAT 2018 will be considered in preliminary screening. The minimum cutoff (in percentile), a candidate must get is available in the table below.

IIM Ahmedabad Application Rating
Application rating is the sum of three parameters, which are as follows.
A – Marks obtained in 10th standard
B – Marks obtained in 12th standard (Also depends on stream)
C – Bachelor degree programme and marks

Parameter A Classification of Scores.

IIM Ahmedabad Normalized Application Rating
NAR = AR of a candidate/ 50 AR-scores of top-50 CAT applicants’ pool
ACRC – defines that the top 5% of applicants( to be considered in shortlisting) in the respective AC limited to the respective categories (General/SC/ST/NC-OBC/PWD) [This case follows only when the number of candidates in each category are more than 100)

#2. AWT and PI

For this round, candidates will get selected on the basis of their CAT scores and academic qualification. This round consisted of two stages.

Stage 1

The qualification for stage 1 will be according to the composite scores (CS) based on ACRC and Criteria 1-3, the formula for which is as follows.

CS (Composite Score) = 0.3 (Normalised AR score) + 0.7 (Normalised overall score in CAT-2018)

Criteria 1: Candidates must not have marks less than minimum cut off table mentioned above.

Criteria 2: Candidates must have P = (an average of the percentages of marks scored in 10th and 12th std. examinations) equal to or more than mentioned in the table below.

Criteria 3: In this category, candidates must have a percentage of marks in the bachelor’s examination ≥ Minimum cut-off percentage. It is set at the 80th percentile of the percentage of marks of the respective ACRC group of the applicants’ pool.

In case the number of candidates in each academic category is less than 100 then, then the following criteria will be followed.

Criteria 4: Overall Percentile ≥ 80, Quant Percentile ≥ 70, DILR Percentile ≥ 70 and VARC Percentile ≥ 70.

Criteria 5: P ≥ 80 (Science), 77 (Commerce), 75 (Arts/Humanities)

Criteria 6: As same as Criteria 3

Stage 2

After shortlisting candidates on the basis of stage 1 rest of the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the Composite score, Criteria 1 & 2.

#3. Final Selection

Now, after the personal interview and Analytical Writing Test, the final composite score will be calculated.

 Final Composite Score (FCS) = 0.50 (Normalised PI Score) + 0.10 (Normalised AWT Score) + 0.40 (CS)

Normalised PI and AWT scores = Score of a candidate in their field/ 1% of top candidates in that field.
