MAT Syllabus 2018 covers a diversity of topics. It tests the general aptitude of the candidate by conducting a common entrance test all over India. MAT Syllabus 2018 consists of five sections with a different number of questions. About MAT: Managment Aptitude Test is a common entrance test which is conducted four times in a year. The difficulty level of MAT is easy to moderate as compared to other exams like CAT, XAT, IIFT etc. Scoring good in the exam will help a candidate to take admission in colleges/ Institution accepting MAT scorecard. There are over 600 Business schools across India accepting the MAT scores.

MAT Syllabus 2018

Questions in MAT 2018 are of multiple choice type. Therefore, a candidate needs to have high accuracy to compete in the exam. For that, the candidates need to practice questions from correct topics.  As such, there is no specific syllabus for the exam. So, the topics given below are based on the previous question papers.

Before knowing the syllabus of MAT 2018, it is better that candidates have a look at the pattern of the exam. The pattern of the exam is as follows:

The MAT is a pen and paper-based test and computer-based test as well. Candidates have both the choices to take the test. An aspirant can choose even both the options. The advantage of this is a candidate can apply 7 colleges instead of 5.

How to Prepare for MAT 2018

After knowing the exam pattern and syllabus it is necessary to know how to prepare for it. Managing your time is important for this exam. Even more, excelling in each topic is necessary.

Exam Analysis

  • Maintaining at least 80% of the accuracy will help you to get good rank in the exam.
  • You need to be proficient in all the sections. Hence you need to balance your score in each area.
  • Target to score atleast 98% to get top colleges under MAT.

Personal Analysis

  • Before starting your preparation, do a quick assessment of yourself. Spot your weak and strong areas.
  • Give a quick test and then review it. You will get a rough idea of your strengths and weaknesses.

Time Managment 

  • After that divide your time into 6 spans. Out of which, 5 should be for each section and one for revision or test.
  • Allot more time to weak areas and little less to the strong areas.

Tip:- Don’t underestimate your strong areas. Regularly give a test for the strong section. For the rest divide half the time for learning the topic and second half for the practice.

Practice and Tests

  • When you have to learn a new topic. Take any book or search on the internet and find as many questions as possible on that area.
  • Before attempting the questions, learn how to solve those questions. Find methods and tricks, you can find them easily in a book or video lessons will be much better.
  • First practice with easy questions, practice until you master a section or moreover until you start having confidence in yourself.
  • Then move forward with moderate and hard level questions.
  • Give many tests as possible. As practice is the key, it will eventually increase your command on the topic.
  • For the known topics, try new questions and keep challenging yourself. Find ways how you can save your time. In that case, learning tricks and shortcuts will be helpful.

Tip:- Shortcuts are not always helpful. First, try to understand the topic thoroughly and then move towards short methods and tricks.

Reviewing your Performance

  • It is also necessary to review your performance after the tests. Always spare a little time for the analysis atleast 1 hour each day.
  • Make a separate Notebook/ Diary and note down new points or method whenever you come through something different. You can also note down your weak points and the areas need to be improved.
  • In every 7 days or 12 days, revise the topics you have learned. Revise formulas, tricks etc.
  • Bookmark or highlight important question and practice them often.
