1. Common Admission Test (CAT)
This is one of the biggest and most popular entrance examinations in India. CAT is conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIM) every year on a rotational basis. The scores for CAT exam is used by more than 20 IIMs and over 200 B-schools. More than 02 lakh candidates appear for the CAT exam every year.

Common Admission Test was first started in the year 1950 in pen-paper mode. However, in the year 2009, it was then announced that it will now be a computer-based test. The registration for CAT exam begins in the month of August and the notification for the entrance exam is generally available by the end of July.
The CAT exam consists of 03 sections – Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning. The exam pattern for CAT is as follows:

CAT Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

2. Common Management Aptitude Test (CMAT)
CMAT is the second largest entrance examination of the country. Approximately, 1.5 lakh candidates appear for the entrance exam. Until last year, CMAT exam was held by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), however, from this year onwards, National Testing Agency (NTA) will be conducting it.
CMAT exam first took place in 2012 and over time, it has become one of the most popular exams of the country. The score of this national level entrance exam is accepted by more than 500 MBA institutes approved by AICTE.

The Common Aptitude Test is held in the month of January every year.
The total duration of the entrance test is 180 minutes and it is a computer-based test. CMAT tests the candidate’s aptitude in four main sections, Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness. The exam pattern for CMAT is as follows:

3. Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT)
This is another top management entrance which is held by Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) Jamshedpur. XAT is an online management aptitude test which is taken by approximately one lakh
candidates every year.
XAT Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university
- Final year students awaiting their results can also apply
The entrance test for XAT is generally held on the first Sunday of the year (January). The score of the entrance test are accepted by more than 100 management institutes. In the year 2018, XAT moved from pen and paper mode to online mode.
There are 04 sections which one need to prepare in XAT, Quantitative Ability, English Language & Logical Reasoning, Decision Making, GK & Essay Writing. The exam pattern for XAT is as follows:

4. Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP)
SNAP is also a national level entrance test conducted by Symbiosis International University. The scores are primarily used for admission to 15 institutes under Symbiosis International University. However, there are many other private MBA colleges which use SNAP scores for admission.
SNAP entrance exam is usually held in the month of December and the registration for the entrance exam go on till November. SNAP test is a computer-based exam. The total duration of the test os 02 hours and it tests a candidate’s:

5. NMAT by GMAC
The NMIMS Management Aptitude Test (NMAT) is also one of the important MBA entrance exams. It
has recently been acquired by GMAC and rebranded as NMAT by GMAC. The scores for this exam are
accepted for admission by Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Alliance
University, SRM University, BML Munjal University, etc.

It is a computer-based test which held more than once a year. This national level entrance exam is held over a 75-day testing window, between October and December. Candidates need to attempt 120 MCQs in 120 minutes.
NMAT by GMAC Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any recognized university.
- Should have obtained at least 50% score in aggregate in the degree examination.
- Candidates with work experience of two or more years after graduation will be preferred for
admission to all full-time programmes.
One advantage of NMAT is that candidates can appear for the exam a total of three times and the best of three scores will be used for admission. There are three sections in the entrance test:

IIFT entrance exam is a national level entrance exam which is held for admission to the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), Delhi. It is held in pen and paper mode, however, the Director of the Institute has suggested that from this year onwards, it shall be held in computer-based.

9. ICFAI Business School Aptitude Test (IBSAT)
IBSAT is a national level entrance test which is conducted by ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education.
