XAT 2019 is the management entrance exam, or MBA entrance exam, conducted by XLRI on behalf of XAMI. It is a computer based test. XAMI refers to the Xavier Association of Management Institutes that includes LIBA, SFIMR, SJIM, SAIMIT, XBS, XIM, XIME, XIMR, XIMJ, XLRI, XISS. Not only XAMI members, but also several other institutes such as the XAT associate members and other B-schools accept XAT exam scores for admission to MBA, PGDM and related programs. XLRI Jamshedpur will conduct XAT 2019 at the national level. More than 50 B-schools consider the score of the exam to grant admission in management courses. This test is being conducted in India for last 60 years. In order to get admission in XLRI and other XAT related institutions candidate need to do XAT 2019 registration. The expected date for registration is August 2018 and application forms will be available on XAT official website.
XAT 2019 Exam Date
XLRI holds XAT exam on the first Sunday in the month of January. This has been the tradition, except in those years where the first Sunday was the first day of the year. Since the first Sunday in the month of January 2019 is 6th January 2019, therefore that is the expected exam date of XAT 2019. Expected timeline for the exam is as follows:

XAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria
Degree: You must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university. It (degree) must be of minimum 3 years duration. You may also apply if you are in the final year of graduation.
Age: There is no upper age or lower age criteria for XAT 2019.
Percentage: There is no minimum bachelor’s degree marks percentage requirement to apply for XAT 2019.
Foreigners and NRI: Foreigners and NRIs with valid GMAT scores are also eligible to apply for admission in XLRI or related institutions.
XAT 2019 Exam Pattern
The exam is a computer-based exam. Until 2016, it was a pen and paper test. XLRI held XAT in online mode for the first time last year, and the same trends shall continue, as of now.
Sections: This exam consists of 2 parts, A and B. You need to appear for both parts of the examination.
Questions and Timings: Part A has 72 questions, to be attempted in 170 minutes. Part B has 25 questions along with 1 essay and the time duration will be only 35 minutes. Essay question is subjective, rest are objective.
Part A: It comprises of 3 sections
- English Language and Logical Reasoning
- Decision Making
- Quantitative Ability
Negative marking: Candidates should make sure that they attempt only those questions of which they know the answers as negative marking is done in this section. For every wrong answer -0.25 marks will be deducted.
Part B: It comprises of 2 sections
- General Knowledge
This section has 2 parts and the total time limit given to attempt this Part is 35 minutes. Candidates can attempt all the questions in Part B as there is no negative marking for wrong answers.

XAT 2019 Syllabus

This is second section of Part-B. Applicants have to write an essay on the given topic. Total time duration for this section combined with General Knowledge is 35 minutes.
XAT 2019 Expected Cut Off
Cut off of XAT 2019 will indicate the minimum marks that is required by the applicant in-order to make to the merit list and be considered for Group Discussion along with Personal Interview to get admission in colleges accepting XAT score.

How to Prepare for XAT 2019?
If a candidate is preparing for XAT 2019, his/her preparation method totally depends on the number of he/she is appearing:
Appearing for First Time
In-case candidate lies in this category, he/she has an option for taking a full time course. In this type of course teaching faculty assists the applicant and helps him/her to clear the concepts, tells them about the aspects of examination and be a guide to teach them tricks and concepts. Moreover, candidate gets an advantage of having a lot of study material in the organized manner to get himself/ herself get ready for XAT 2019.
Once an applicant has completed the syllabus he/she must then go for analyzing the preparation status and revise the difficult parts and also start taking mock tests.
Not the First Time Applicant
If an applicant has not been successful in cracking XAT 2019 for the first time and is willing to take the test again, he/she must analyze the weak and strong sections first. Likewise, candidate can begin with sectional tests online and all working smartly on weak sections.
Also, candidates must ensure that they take the mock tests and also solve previous years question papers.
It takes approximately 6-7 months of continuous and focused preparation to crack XAT 2019. Also, candidates who are unable to take a time out of their busy schedule to prepare must not think that it is late for preparation. Because it is never late to start working towards dream in-order to achieve it.
Candidates must try to complete the syllabus by last week of October 2018. This will give them sufficient time to revise the syllabus and score good marks in the exam.
XAT 2019 Exam Centers
XAT is conducted in 49 cities of India and also has international exam centers Kathmandu and Dubai. For XAT 2019 expected cities are same as that of previous year. However, no official notification has been released. List will be uploaded here as soon as official list is announced.
XAT 2019 Application Form

XAT 2019 Admit Card
Applicants who have successfully filled the application form can download the admit card from the official website of XAT.
Admit Card of XAT 2019 will be uploaded in the month of December 2018 (tentatively).
To download the admit card, applicants need to visit the official site and login to their account using UID and password.
Applicants are expected to check all the details available on the admit card and in case of any error should immediately contact the XAT admissions office.
Admit card will contains details like Candidates Name, Time of exam, exam center, date of exam and other important information. Candidates should take a print out of admit card and carry it with them while appearing for the exam.
XAT 2019 Answer Key
Answer Key of XAT 2019 will be released after the exam has been conducted.It will be made available on the official portal of XAT. Candidates will be able to match their answers using answer key and get rough idea of the marks they are going to score.

XAT 2019 Result
Result of XAT 2019 will be released in the month of January 2019. Candidates who appeared for the exam will be able to download the results from the XAT official website.
Candidates who will successfully qualify the Xavier Aptitude Test will make it to the merit list for group discussion and personal interview. If you clear the cut off and perform well in GD and PI, his/her name will appear on final merit list prepared for the admission in XLRI and other business schools. Candidates who will successfully make it to the merit list will get shortlisted for final level test and finally prepared merit-list will depict the name of candidates who gets admission in B-schools that require XAT 2019 results.
How to Calculate XAT Percentile?
Just like all other percentiles, candidates’ XAT percentile also determines the number of students who have scores less than him/her. It also assists in deciding the rank of applicant for the admission in management courses in all the colleges and institutions accepting XAT score.
To calculate the percentile only the marks obtained in Part-A are considered. This percentile is used by all the participating institutions to prepare the particular college merit list.
General Formula to Calculate XAT percentile:

Let’s us understand this with an example:
Suppose a candidate got 600 rank in XAT 2019 out of 30000 candidates who appeared for the exam. In this case percentile will be calculated as:
XAT 2019 Percentile= [1- (600/30000)]*100= 98 percentile
This depicts that 98 percent of candidates who took the exam scored less than you. Candidate must remember that no one gets 100 percentile. As percentile shows the number of candidates below her/him including herself/himself.

Applying for Other B-Schools
Candidates seeking admissions in B-schools must start applying as soon as the admission forms are made available.
Many colleges across the country accept XAT score for the admission in their management courses. Candidates must keep an eye on the opening of admissions in the desired B-schools and apply. Various colleges open admissions before the result and many do after XAT results are announced. Candidates can fill in the registration forms by visiting college’s official site. If a candidate fulfills the minimum eligibility criteria, they will receive an email from the college for GDPI. Go for it with confidence and nail the exam.
Admission on basis of XAT 2019
Candidates will be shortlisted for this process depending on their performance in exam and also XAT 2019 Cut Off. Some of the institutes accepting XAT score conducts both Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) while other conducts either of two.
Other factors affecting selection procedures are the cut off list of every institution, 10th and 10+2th percentage, UG percentage, work experience, extracurricular activities and applicants’ complete profile.
After considering all this factors and candidates performance in Selection Process, final merit list is prepared.
The 2 rounds of selection process of XAT 2019 are:
- Group Discussion (GD)- A group of 8-15 qualified applicants is made and given a topic to discuss for the time duration of 15-20 minutes.
Generally topics given for discussion are related to politics, trending social issues, current affairs or other issues related to technology, advertising, business, education etc.
After the discussion is over candidates are judged on the basis of soft skills like communication skills, leadership qualities, assertiveness, ability to solve conflicts, assertiveness, team management and many more.
- Personal Interview (PI)- It is the final round of the selection process. Here candidate needs to present himself/herself in front of panel of interviewers. Only those candidates reach to this round who are shortlisted in the GD round.
Personal Interview is done basically to know about the applicant, his/her background, academics, motivation behind choosing management field and achievements.This round also tests the candidate’s ability to think and perform under pressure, confidence and communication skills.
